Peruvian blueberries are about to reach the peak of the production season. Exports to China have increased by 64%. This season, China's import volume is expected to reach 43,152 tons, achieving a 64% growth compared to the previous season. According to Peruvian media Agraria, in the 2024/25 season, Peru's fresh blueberry export volume is expected to reach 292,138 tons, a 0.6% reduction compared to the earlier estimate (293,841 tons) released in June. This prediction was recently released by the Peruvian Blueberry Growers and Exporters Association (ProArándanos). This season starts in May 2024 and ends in April 2025.
The peak of the production season will arrive soon in the 43rd week (October 21-27), with a production volume of 17,278 tons. China is one of the four major export markets for Peruvian blueberries. The others are the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom, with China ranking fourth. This season, China's import volume is expected to reach 43,152 tons, achieving a 64% growth compared to the previous season. This is a decline from the earlier growth expectation of 84%, and an increase of 17% compared to the 2022/23 season.
The export peak to China will also be in the 43rd week, about 2,920 tons. This season, Peru will export 255,092 tons of traditional blueberries (88% share) and 36,236 tons of organic blueberries (12% share). This expectation means that the volume of traditional blueberries is expected to be reduced by 2% compared to the earlier forecast, while organic products are increased by 7%.
