This year, China's consumption remains active, investment grows steadily, the scale of imports and exports remains at a relatively high level, the economy operates generally smoothly with continuous structural upgrading. The Chinese economy shows many highlights with both quantity increase and quality improvement.

China is the world's largest fruit production area and consumer market. The fruit output accounts for about one-third of the global total. The fruit import and export trade is active, accounting for more than 6% of the global fruit trade share. The fruit industry is an industry with international competitive advantages in China. In the first half of this year, "fresh bayberries" from China frequently appeared in many countries such as Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. How can such a fruit with strong seasonality and short preservation period go abroad and achieve high value?

This is the first time that an advertisement for Taizhou Xianju Bayberries has been displayed on the big screen in Times Square in New York this year. This "touch of red" of Chinese fruits starts to go global.

How was this achieved? With doubts, the reporter came to Xianju, Zhejiang Province, the main production area of bayberries in China. Since the bayberry picking season has passed, there are no bayberries in the fields, but in a specially designed fresh-keeping warehouse, the reporter met Ying Jiaoming, who is preparing to participate in the Food Trade Expo to be held in Hong Kong in mid-August.

Ying Jiaoming, the person in charge of a bayberry distribution enterprise: These bayberries were picked in early July and have been stored for one month. Over there, there are some that have been stored for one and a half months and a little over one month.

Can bayberries be stored for such a long time? Can they still be fresh? Ying Jiaoming told the reporter that this is attributed to the new technology they invented this year.

Ying Jiaoming, the person in charge of a bayberry distribution enterprise: What we do is the technology of not freezing at sub-zero temperatures. Its advantages are no mold growth, no insects, and no white heads. It can be applied not only to bayberries but also to other fruits, fresh produce, vegetables, meat, and seafood.

Not only that, the local agricultural technicians also told the reporter that after many attempts, it is possible to keep bayberries fresh for two months without adding any preservatives or additives by reducing the indoor temperature, weakening the respiratory intensity of bayberries, and inhibiting the reproduction of harmful microorganisms.

Ye Rubin, a technician of a certain company in Xianju County: If there is water leakage or spoilage and the pulp water inside is lost, it will turn white. The stems of these bayberries are very fresh.

The continuous improvement of the "fresh-keeping" technology also enables each bayberry to be fully prepared for the upcoming "journey overseas".

This year, a "standardized" process for long-distance transportation has been formed locally. Through customizing outer packaging - ice bag preservation, microporous modified atmosphere preservation, vacuum packaging, nitrogen packaging and other means to extend the fresh-keeping period of fresh fruits; express "land and air special lines" directly reach the destination with full cold chain transportation to minimize the impact of long-distance transportation on the quality of bayberries.
