On September 18, 11.7 tons of Peruvian imported blueberries arrived at Tianjin Port after 34 days. This is also the first time that imported blueberries from South America have landed at a port in northern China and completed unloading, and then reached Shouheng Gaobeidian International Agricultural Products Trading Center in Hebei Province directly by cold chain.

The smooth arrival of this batch of blueberries benefits from the establishment of the "fruit express line" by Tianjin Port - the direct shipping route from Tianjin Port to South America. This shipping route was officially opened in December 2023. Tianjin Port has unloaded more than 30 voyages in total and imported a large number of agricultural products such as white shrimp, frozen beef, cherries and red wine from South America. Now the successful arrival of Peruvian blueberries at Tianjin Port has become another high-end South American fruit introduced through this shipping route after Chilean cherries.

The importer of this batch of blueberries is Baichuan Kuaijie (Tianjin) International Trade Co., Ltd. Wang Yihan, the general manager of the company, said that the distribution of blueberries in the northern market is generally concentrated in Shouheng Gaobeidian market. In the past, blueberries were mostly imported through Shanghai Port or Shenzhen Port. This time, landing at Tianjin Port can reduce transportation costs by about 60% compared with shipping from Shanghai Port.

Peruvian blueberries enter the peak shipping period in late October. Wang Yihan said that it is expected that during the National Day holiday this year, the company will have four 40-foot containers of blueberries arriving at the port. From late November to early December, about 300 40-foot containers of blueberries will successively arrive at the northern fruit market through Tianjin Port. By the end of this year, the company plans to transfer 30-40% of the imported volume of Chilean cherries to Tianjin Port to further radiate the northern market.
